Another great Australian food innovation success story!

AS A kid, Leigh Edward was the envy of his schoolfriends when his dad Bruce started his own confectionery business.

But what started out as a small, family-owned company has turned into a huge success story for Ballarat’s Ferndale Confectionery.

The company was founded in 1995 when Bruce Edward, who worked at the Mars confectionery factory, grew frustrated because he couldn’t bring home treats from the factory.

Diabetes runs in the Edward family, and in the 90s, sugar-free options were few and far between.
